Math Lesson Plan On My Student Teaching Experience

Description: What is/are the artifact(s)? The artifacts are both math lesson plans used during my student teaching experience. The first artifact is a math lesson plan on coins. The other artifact is a math lesson plan on telling time. The lessons are developmentally appropriate for a 3rd- 5th autism support classroom and focus on math common core standards. The math common core standards are: CC.2.4.2.A.3: Solve problems using coins and paper currency with appropriate symbols. 2.CC.2.4.2.A.2: Tell and write time to the nearest five minutes using both analog and digital clocks. Interpretation: Provide a rationale for choosing the artifact(s) My student teaching placement was in a 3rd-5th grade autism support classroom. Based on Piaget’s cognitive theory, 3rd-5th grade students are in the concrete operational stage. However, cognitively, the students in the class are in the pre-operational stage. As a result, they view the world through symbols, but are unable to concentrate on multiple aspects in a situation (T. Crandell, C. Crandell Zanden, 2012).Students with autism also generally do not do well with task that are abstract because it is more challenging for them (Smith, Segal Hutman, 2015). Instead, they do well on tasks that allow them to use their visual skills. Therefore, in the coin lesson, students were shown a video about coins. The video showed the value of each coin and described how each coin looks like. While reading upon various Shakespeare’s novels, Jasmine, a student at Clifton high school, had found that she felt strong characteristic traits to some of the characters in them. Some of the traits were modesty, from the book Much Ado about Nothing, loyalty was a big one that she connected to, from The Tragedy of Macbeth, and over thinking, from Hamlet. Her love of Shakespeare had always been there but High school had showed her that she felt a deep passion for Shakespeare’s novels and also connected very well to them. The first book Jasmine felt a strong connection to was Much Ado about Nothing. The character she felt most close to personality wise in the novel was Hero. Hero is presented as a very modest maiden. Jasmine first learns of Hero s modesty when she witnesses Claudio s reaction to meeting Hero. Claudio describes Hero as the sweetest lady that he ever looked on (I.i.8). Hero, herself, also confirms her own modesty when she is asked by the other characters to work with them in tricking Beatrice and Benedick into falling in love. Her reply is that she would do anything a modest, virtuous maiden would do to trick her cousin into getting a husband, as we see in her line, I will do any modest office, my lord, to help my cousin to a good husband (II.i.16). Critical Role of Reflection in Learning †Free Samples to Students

Question: Discuss about the Critical Role of Reflection in Learning. Answer: Introduction Its the formative years of studenthood that sow the seed for one to give back to the society(anonymous 2016). Learning experiences are very important in a person's life as they help in framing a person's individuality and personality. This assignment is a reflection on what I have learnt in my course, how it has been useful and effective for me and how it shall help me in the future, be it my career or life in general. In my experience, learning new things have been very useful to me. I have been enlightened about a number of things related to business research, data collection, analytics and much more. How businesses function, what are they comprised of and their structure is a few of the many things I learnt about. Learning experiences are essential as they provide an open door to endless possibilities. It renders one with a starting point, from where an individual can indulge himself or herself in as many new experiences as he or she wants. Learning experiences do not only comprise of the things a student is taught when he or she is attending a lecture in a class room. Every experience that renders a person with some sort of knowledge, where a person comes to know about anything that he or she might not have known about before can be put into the category of a learning experience. My experiences have helped me in a number of ways and will be valuable to me for a lifetime. There are a number of ways these learning experiences will help me, not only in my course or studies but also in my future career and life in general. In my course and program, the learning that I have experienced shall help me in exchanging ideas and my personal opinions with me fellow classmates. These can prove to be a starting point of some very interesting discussions and debates. Exchanging my knowledge with my friends can help everyone in a deeper understanding of the concepts and also will lead to sharing of new ideas and personal thoughts and opinions. This is called collaborative learning. Collaborative learning is an educational approach to teaching and learning that involves groups of learners working together to solve a problem, complete a task, or create a product(Marjan Laal 2012). In my future career, these experiences will open doors of opportunities for me as I have able to reflect on my learning experiences. Based upon my experiences, I shall also be able to challenge myself to going further ahead, pushing myself to grab opportunities and build a better career for myself. In my personal life, I will be able to question the way things have always been done and try to incorporate new and better practices in my daily life. This will allow me to gain a better insight into correcting flaws and adapting to new and better behavior and practices. All of this will eventually help me become a better, more responsible, compassionate, smart and a successful human being. Business research is the process of gathering the necessary data for an industry to be successful(Suttle 2015). It is a vast study of how businesses function in their day to day operations to extract maximum profits while keeping the customers satisfied and at the same time also giving back to the environment and acting responsibly, taking into account sustainable practices. Businesses research enlightens one to the various aspects of running a business. It helps an individual to understand what forms the core of an organization, how it functions and how it can be improved over time. It also helps in the learning process in more than one ways. Business research and research learning process are complimentary to each other. Research can be defined as the learning of new facts, experimenting and arriving at new conclusions. A learning process is a journey. Learning entails the process of discovery and of mastering what one discovers(GOPNIK 2005). To enable myself to learn a lot of new things, I did a number of things. These include making some considerable changes in my life. I believe learning is not limited to a classroom section or a lecture hall. Even though paying attention in class and imbibing the things taught to us by our teachers is of utmost importance, I have experienced learning from discussions and conversations with my friends. I started reading more and more books, apart from the ones in our syllabus. I more frequently started utilizing my time on the internet for research purposes, rather than catching up on social media. It is already been said that the Internet is a world of knowledge and how you choose to use it depends upon you. I saw weekly progress in myself. I was able to grasp things more quickly and retain them for longer. I was also able to discuss more topics in great detail with my friends and family, educating myself and others in return. The reason for doing assessment 1 and 2 was to gain insight into business research. Business research is a systematic, objective collection and analysis of data about your target market, competition, and/or environment(Marilia 2012). It helps one to understand whats most important to customers, allowing to improve the products, services, marketing efforts, and customer service(Jansen 2013). There were a number of different methodologies followed to understand complex systems and research done on various topics that helped me in comprehending popular concepts and new terminologies. When students get insight into that process, they learn a new dimension of analysis(Danos 2014). There are a number of ways the research and my personal learning experiences shall help me in my future career and life. As already mentioned above, the learning experiences that are an individual's own, help him or her in shaping their personalities and identities. These also make a human different from others. Obviously, no too people can have the same learning experiences and therefore, no two people are the same. In my future and my career, mt learning experiences will help me in defining my life goals, the career I want to pursue and the choices that I will make on a day to day basis. Whether my decisions are good or bad for me or for other people directly or indirectly affected by me, will depend upon the choices I make in my life. These choices will tie back to my earning experiences. What a person learns in his or her life, is what makes him an individual. It is also what helps him in understanding the world around him and making positive or negative choices. From my learning , I hope to apply my knowledge to fulfill my goals and become a successful person. Conclusion The purpose of learning refers to changes in student behavior that is experienced after the implementation of the learning process(anonymous 2010). From my learning experiences, I have gained a lot of knowledge. My personal experiences have defined me as an individual and have had a significant impact on my personality. Reflection provides the opportunity to establish connections between new and existing knowledge and to deepen their level of understanding(PRIESTLEY 2015). Multicultural Education and Training in Rehabilitation Counseling Educ

Michael White 10/31/11 Journal Article 2 Quinn Multicultural Education and Training in Rehabilitation Counseling Education Programs The clientele have become increasingly diverse in regards to racial-ethnic backgrounds of those needing rehabilitation counseling. This article addresses multicultural education and its role in rehabilitation counselor education. The implementation of multicultural practices in educational programs is still unclear; nevertheless, the rehabilitation counseling training programs have begun to embrace multicultural practices as they are implemented in the accreditation standards process. Multiculturalism has become an increasingly relevant topic over the past decade due to surveys conducted by researches for organizations such as the National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE). Research has found that participants agreed on the importance of providing multicultural training; however, the participants did not feel it necessary to require the information to be infused throughout the curriculum as had been suggested. As national studies began to expose inequities in outcomes and se rvice provision for individuals with disabilities from culturally diverse backgrounds, government mandates such as the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1992 would seek to address needs for competence and diversity. Considering the previously mentioned content, I agree that implementing a framework surrounding multicultural education can help ensure that students are receiving a quality education and are fully prepared to work as culturally competent professionals upon graduation. I also believe that it will continue to be necessary for adjustment to be made not in the core of the curriculum but in the methods in which it is taught. J. Vernon Mcgee Essays - Letter Writers, , Term Papers

J. Vernon Mcgee J. Vernon McGee has an interesting way of looking at the Bible. He seems to take a standpoint on Galations that is very refreshing. I have never heard a biblical scalar use the word cool before. I just really enjoyed reading his commentary. He divides the book into five parts, the first being the introduction. He talks about how in the first five verses Paul tells that he is an apostle by God not by man. In verse two he describes that Paul is writing to the churches of Galatia and not the church body that is composed of all that are saved. In verse four he gives a very inspiring view of how Jesus gave himself. As well as talking about how God will deliver us from present evil. From verse five he talks about how wonderful God is and how we need to praise his name. McGee then goes on to talk about Paul's subject in Galations. Paul is writing this letter to warn about Judaizers. After Paul had gone threw an area these Judaizers would come right behind him and add to what Paul said. They would tell them that they had to obey the Mosaic Law as well as have faith. The main idea for verses 1:6-10 holds the same main idea. God has provided us with the one and only true gospel and this is what Paul was preaching. If anyone should ever come up to and tell you that your belief is right up to a point we should tell them to leave us alone. In the next part he talks about Paul's experiences in Arabia. In verses eleven and twelve Paul states one again about how the gospel he preaches came from no man but from God. In verses 18-24 we read about Paul going to meet with the other apostles and their reaction to him. The church as well as the apostles in Jerusalem was slightly reluctant to accept Paul when he first arrived. In fact McGee says ?without the help of Barnabas, Paul would probably have waited for a long time before the church in Jerusalem would have received him?. Paul never did meet up with all the apostles. He only met two the brothers of Jesus, James and Peter. Now we come to chapter two of Galations. This is the point were things really start to get interesting. This is when Paul comes back to Jerusalem with Titus. It was a very powerful message that Paul stated by bringing one who was uncircumcised to the church of Jerusalem. The real meat of verses 2:1-10 is when Paul meets with the apostles. In this meeting they both presented their version of the gospel and came to find out that they had nothing to add to Paul's version. They had come to the agreement that both gospels were true and accurate. Now we move to Paul's experiences in Antioch with Peter. It was well know that Jews did not feel that they should eat meat. Well at the church in Antioch there was a mixture of both Jews and Gentiles. They also had a great meal called a love feast in this church. Well this lead to some problems having Jews that didn't eat meat and Gentiles that did. The solution was to have two separate tables, one with meat and one without. When Paul came he saw no problem in eating meat so he went to sit at the gentiles table. When Simon Peter arrived he saw Paul sitting at the table and sat at the Jews table anyway. Later after the meal Peter ask Paul about eating meat and Paul explained to Peter that eating meat cannot separate you from God if you are saved by grace. Peter then ate meat the next morning and enjoyed it. That evening when friends from the church in Jerusalem came Peter went from the Gentile table back to the kosher table. ?By his actions he was saying that the gentile table was wro ng and the kosher table was right. Now we come to chapter three in Galatians were Paul now goes back to the experiences of the Galatians. McGee says that he believes in experience.

How to Avoid Common Prepositional Pitfalls in German Prepositions (Prpositionen) are a hazardous area in the learning of any second language, and German is no exception. These short, seemingly innocent words - an, auf, bei, bis, in, mit, à ¼ber, um, zu, and others - can often be gefhrlich (dangerous). One of the most common mistakes made by the foreign speaker of a language is the incorrect use of prepositions. Prepositional Pitfalls Fall Into Three Main Categories Grammatical: Is the preposition one governed by the accusative, dative, or genitive case? Or is it a so-called doubtful or two-way preposition? The German noun cases play an important role.Idiomatic: How does a native-speaker say it? To illustrate this, I often use the English example of stand IN line or stand ON line- which do you say? (Both are correct, but your answer may reveal which part of the English-speaking world youre from. If youre British, youd simply queue.) And the way a German might say in or on depends on a number of factors, even including whether a surface is vertical (on the wall) or horizontal (on the table)! Using the wrong preposition can also lead to an unintentional change in meaning... and sometimes to embarrassment.English Interference: Because some German prepositions are similar or identical to English, or sound like an English preposition (bei, in, an, zu), you may choose the wrong one. And several German prepositions can equal more than one English prepo sition: an can mean at, in, on, or to- depending on how its used in a German sentence. So you cant just assume that an will always mean on. The word since can be translated into German with either the preposition seit (for time) or the conjunction da (for cause). The traditional way, learning to rattle off the case groups (e.g., bis, durch, fà ¼r, gegen, ohne, um, wider take the accusative), works for some people, but I prefer the phrase approach- learning prepositions as part of a prepositional phrase. (This is similar to learning nouns with their genders, as I  also recommend.) For example, memorizing the phrases mit mir and ohne mich sets the combination in your mind AND reminds  you that mit takes a dative object (mir), while ohne takes the accusative (mich). Learning the difference between the phrases am See (at the lake) and an den See (to the lake) will tell you that an with the dative is about location (stationary), whereas an with the accusative is about direction (movement). This method is also closer to what a native-speaker does naturally, and it can help move the learner towards an increased level of Sprachgefà ¼hl or a feeling for the language. Idioms Speaking of Sprachgefà ¼hl, here is where you really need it! In most cases, youll just have to learn the right way to say it. For example, where English uses the preposition to, German has at least six possibilities: an, auf, bis, in, nach, or zu! But there are some helpful categorical guidelines. For example, if youre going to a country or geographic destination, you almost always use nach- as in nach Berlin or nach Deutschland. But there are always exceptions to the rule: in die Schweiz, to Switzerland. The rule for the exception is that feminine (die) and plural countries (die USA) use in instead of nach. But there are many cases where rules arent much help. Then you simply have to learn the phrase as a vocabulary item. A good example is a phrase such as to wait for. An English-speaker has a tendency to say warten fà ¼r when the correct German is warten auf- as in Ich warte auf ihn  (Im waiting for him) or Er wartet auf den Bus. (Hes waiting for the bus). Here are a few standard prepositional idiomatic expressions: to die of/sterben an (dat.)to believe in/glauben an (dat.)to depend on/ankommen auf (acc.)to fight for/kmpfen umto smell of/riechen nach Sometimes German uses a preposition where English doesnt: He was elected mayor. Er wurde zum Bà ¼rgermeister gewhlt. German often makes distinctions that English does not. We go to the movies or to the cinema in English. But zum Kino means to the movie theater (but not necessarily inside) and ins Kino means to the movies (to see a show). Interference First-language interference is always a problem in learning a second language, but nowhere is this more critical than with prepositions. As we have already seen above, just because English uses a given preposition doesnt mean German will use the equivalent in the same situation. In English we are afraid OF something; a German has fear BEFORE (vor) something. In English we take something FOR a cold; in German, you take something AGAINST (gegen) a cold.   Another example of interference can be seen in the preposition by. Though German bei sounds almost identical to English by, it is rarely used in that meaning. By car or by train is mit dem Auto or mit der Bahn (beim Auto means next to or at the car). The author of a literary work is designated in a von-phrase: von Schiller (by Schiller). The closest bei usually comes to by is in an expression such as bei Mà ¼nchen (near/by Munich) or bei Nacht (at/by night), but bei mir means at my house or at my place.
